Eric and Jade Meets the Mulsanne !
British brands always showcase the pinnacle of luxury. Here are our hosts Eric Matthew and James Deckard having a little chat about one of the British Golden Chariot, the Ultra Luxurious Saloon the flagship model from Bentley the Mulsanne.
Ok Jade no more patience huh? Lets get straight to it!, I am gonna give you something that is made from your homeland. Well this is pretty confusing mate, nothing your bad this is your habit, aah then Mr J here you go!... This... is British luxury at its pinnacle, meet the 2020 Bentley Mulsanne!. Maan... this is gorgeous!, the dual tone finish, the massive wheels and the ultra luxurious front end, amazing man this is amazing. This total attitude of the car is really appealing for the segment which this belongs to huh? Yes this is absolutely appealing design and the overall attitude and the beastly muscular and bulky structure gives it the massive road presence. Yes man which is obviously a check in the requirements of the billionaires and millionaires who can afford it!. Ha ha! Yes quiet obvious!. So J, I showed you this rolling castle, which is the second best as far as I am concerned; Yo man! that's cus you are a fan of Rolls Royce!. Ha ha Yes I am! Aren’t you a fan of Rolls Royce?! Yeah I love both of them, the Bentley and Rolls Royce are my favorites. Ooh that was tactical one!. No man really!. Anyways coming back, this Mulssane is the last piece of luxury!. Yeah I heard it they wrapped up the production from 2020, so its rare now. Yes it is being a collectors item. So Eric, lets get to some flashback.
Yeah the flashback starts from a long way back to 1919 when sir W.O Bentley founded the Bentley Motors. And the legacy still continues after a hundred years. Man this Bentley motors is now providing job to more than 4000 people under one umbrella. And from the initial stage they are famous for their extreme luxury and comfort. Yeah man this luxury is the key of marketing from the Britisher, yeah now I get why you live in luxury tho!. Uhhh Man you live in Monaco and you are mocking me?!. Ha haa… whatever, apart from their key factor luxury Bentley motors has a renowned legacy in motor racing too. Ooh yeah man they have won five consecutive trophies in the Le Mans from 1924-1930, which is fantastic for a beginner. Yes J that is some real hard work. But then it was sort of long break because their 6th win came around in 2003. Man! Probably they might have focused on building luxury cars during that break. Yeah Possibly!.
Now Jade coming back to the car, the Mulsanne, this absolute peak of luxury has first rolled out from Bentley in the year 2010.Which means Eric, it has a legacy of ten long years phew!. That is flamboyant man!. That it is!. It is such an effort to continue the production of a luxury flagship for 10 years… and the Mulsanne is one of the worlds finest handmade car representing the peak of luxury along with powerful engine. J, the first Mulsanne rolled out of the factory in the year 2010 and the rolling castle was unveiled at the pebble beach concourse, a year before. The fact about the name Mulsanne is that it was actually named after the Mulsanne corner of the Le Mans circuit.
After the first generation rolled out Mulsanne was given a major mid life cycle update just after four years. Yeah man the updated model was more refined. Absolutely with refined masterclass, luxurious interiors, the engine was also given more refinement and tune upgrades, while the first gen was given a 6.75L twin turbocharged V8. The second came with the same but more refined twin turbo V8 producing 506 HP and 1020 NM torque. Well! that is quite promising power for the rolling castle.
Aah and then the next year saw a new special edition for the Mulsanne, the Mulsanne Speed. The car was literally worth of the name as it turned out to be the most powerful four-door car of its time. Yeah man it featured immense torque with the more enhanced 6.75 twin turbo V8. Mighty beast it is! Ooh the cosmetics too was appealing to luxury. The speed edition included some of the extreme luxury features on the interiors like the diamond-quilted seats and door pads, knurled gear lever and drilled alloy sports pedals. A striking sports interior color split with perforated hide also ensure the Speed's unique place in the Mulsanne family. Ooh its so good to talk about the luxury!.
So Jade, the one we have here is the 2020 latest version, the last one of its kind. Yeah sort of like the Aventador Ultimae. That's the one of its own man that is an absolute legend and this too is. They are the king of their segments. Ahh yes were were we, the Mulsanne, this currently we are having is the Mulsanne extended wheelbase. Ooh the one launched in 2016? yes it is but this is the 2021 model which I have mentioned earlier tho!. This conveys the purpose perfectly!. Yeahhh! highly luxurious interior and elegant classy exterior and massiveness, the absolute qualities needed for a luxury car to be. Yea Eric, the guys at the factory threw some herculean effort to craft this out to be the most luxurious and comfortable car of the Mulsanne range. Hats off to those who worked for it!. Yes man this is absolute masterpiece and a crowd puller, but for me Jade, this is certainly not my cup of tea but the thing that attracts me to this is the V8, the enormous power. Absolutely agreeable Eric, these floating castles are given the big daddy V8 firstly because of the monstrous weight. Some absolute power is needed to move them. Do you think a normal 4 cylinder will do the job. No man the 4 cylinder will curse the maker and its fate, it will not make a day!.
Ok now Jade, how does this rolling castle please you? Man you don't have to say rolling castle every single time…. But man, that is obvious when you enjoy the ultimate product of British engineering!. This Bentley Mulsanne long wheel base is absolutely stunning to look at. The road presence of this is just magnificent. The first thing that strikes my eyes is the classic dual tone rode gold and metallic dark grey finished exterior, that is absolute class. Yeah look at that round headlights and indicators and that massive vertical front grille, this looks so beastly man. Ahh the chrome detailing on the grille and the bottom panel is just extravagant, the way it just highlights the front end is absolutely appealing to the luxury. And wait Eric, the icing on the cake is the flying Bentley logo which is the hood ornament makes this thing more gorgeous. Look at the hood man, the plane hood itself is creating some attractive feel to it!. Yeah! The way the side profile is layed is also amazing, the length and dual tone finish makes it so classy. The window borders ans the door handles, which reminiscent the classic one are given the chrome borders and the way they have integrated the chrome line on the bottom panel is too amazing, I love the way it turns out to a B at the end!. The swooping roof-line fees so smooth man and that is what complements to the rear end. Another little detail that I love as we approach the rear end of the side profile is the way the dual tone finish merges out. Yah man every single line is perfectly drawn. Yo Jade didn't you see the wheels? Ooh yes I think we missed a point there. What do you think of the rims Eric? These wheels are monstrous, with the classy alloys on it and they are giving the Mulsanne a luxurious floating ride!.
Now the best part of the car man, the interior! Yeah man the interior, as the Bentley says is offered ‘with first class air travel experience’, which is an exquisiting experience for you. Ahh the interior also comes fitted with a lot of touch screens around front and back. Man what I love the most about the interior is the way the interior is organized, with a lot of soft touch and comfortable leather materials along with the wooden trim with a gloss finish. Ohh man these seats are so comfortable to sit in and the leg and headroom are plenty really royal. You really have to cut trees and kill cows to make this comfortable masterclass damn sorry cow!. Haa man yes sorry tree too!. Another thing that caught my eyes in the interior is the chrome highlights and borders, they are placed really well to make the interior look more classy. Jade, this thing has all kind of luxury gimmicks fitted in here man, and I used the word gimmick cus I hate to be chauffeur driven, I would always like to drive my cars!. But Eric all that gimmicks makes this car one of the priorities of billionaires and many high profile personalities. Like, this thing has a mini fridge, cup holder, wine, infotainment screen and even a walnut wood made picnic table, all these features makes this back seat feel like a tiny apartment for the person himself. Man what I like is that the interior is given small small pockets around every corner for storing documents and files which is another check on the list of the owner. Eric, I love the cosmetic finish of the interior with the wooden trim, most probably a walnut tree is used here. But Jade, the way the buttons and nobes are placed in the center console is too bad they are sort of crowded in there, but wait I really like the chrome outline and the wooden finished pit, with a wooden lid which the buttons sit. But man the real fact about this car being a chauffeur driven is that the one who is at the back has the power. For example on the rear seat there is this button which is used to control the front seat so the backbencher is the king here. Ok now, lets jump to the front seats, I am done with the whole rear seat gimmicks!. The Front seat too feels so cozy to be in with the leather seats. Uhhh Mr Eric just look how gorgeous this steering wheel is.. I just love to touch it, just like Captain America says ‘I can do this All day’!. I like the way the dual tone finish is integrated to the steering wheel. All these interior theme is just so good. The silver accents are spread out to the interior in a classy comfortable and elegant way absolutely adequate for a luxury limo.
Man as the new age technology trend, this Bentley is also having multi-functional steering wheel, which is Eric, a name given to the steering wheel with some buttons on it, to make it sound professional. But bro that is not the companies bad, that is what the people want! And the companies always should listen to its people screaming for whatever. Man the way this chrome accent is spread around is so amazing, like look at the steering wheel, you can see the chrome finished logo on the central hub, look around the meter console, the gear liver, the central console, even look at the grab handle on the roof, every were the chrome accent is spread out… come on Jade this make it look more classier and it is supposed to convince you with its luxury touches, but not to scream like this about the chrome elements… Whatever it is I hate chrome man they could have either blacked it out or given some kinda brushed aluminum or silver finish. Ok now enough boy, lets go back to the review, the seats are exceptional man, they are embroidered with the Bentley logo not on the headrest but on the shoulder part. Well that is something I don’t have much to comment on, but the upholstery design, the dual parallel lines running in the edge of the seats make this thing more cooler. Look Eric, this chariot is given a tiny little screen to fulfill the name the ‘Infotainment Screen’. Well Mr J my smartphone got even bigger screen than that with the five year old resolution. Well mate, Eric you have got a bit annoying lately. But look mate I am saying facts, you know ‘Facts’. Aah whatever the meter and central consoles closely resemble the late 90s with the analogue meter consoles elegantly put together.
Enough of the elegance! and all kind of luxury gimmicks!, now lets talk about the real thing that moves the car!. Yes Mr engine addict E!, this Britisher is having a Bi-turbo V8 which is 6.75 liters. Well Jade now let me talk… This V8 is from the L-Series Big Block V8s of the Britishers Bentley and Rolls Royce. And the interesting fact is that this Mulsanne is the last one baring the L-series V8s. This V8 is build in the Crewe Plant and it takes the hard work of nearly 30 hours to build one of this. This monster spitted out 506HP power and 1020NM torque which is required to move this heavy machine or as Jade says, the chariot. Now lets check on the practical side of the beast. On the interior this is having many small pockets and front glove box to store files. This thing even have a fridge on the rear seats also the boot space is enough for small picnics and business trips. Yeah yeah, well mate what about the competence with the other rivals?. Well Eric this luxury limousine lock horns with the other Britisher the Rolls Royce Ghost, and I think the ghost absolutely nails it on everything mate… ghost is more comfortable elegant and powerful. Ohh really Jade? For me this is a tight competition. I will go for the Bentley in case of design and elegance but rolls in case of comfort and drive…. Well mate that is pretty personal perspectives man that never matters, but this car is good too!.
Ok now Jade how can you conclude this chat? Well for me, this car is not really a drivers car, if you own this car then you must be driven by the driver, I say so because the rear seat itself is an experience that should be experienced. Overall this thing is gorgeous, feels a bit classic on the interior and the rear end of the exterior, perfectly put together car. Well for me this thing is gorgeous elegant and classy and also feels good to drive except it is so heavy, so throwing the rear end sideways is too much to think about. But overall as you said a million pound luxury car which turns out to be your personal apartment without bathrooms. Hahaa! Maybe it is man!……. Any way this is the last time this Mulsanne rolls out of the factory so Adios and Kudos to Mulsanne…. Also this marks an end to this chat too…. Its been too late mate so catch you later seeyaa!. Seeyaa Eric!….
