BMW, the automaker with the headquarters resembling a 4 Cylinder Engine has recently created chaos and contravercy among their fans with the introduction of their all new design philosophy. While every other factors remained acceptable and appreciable it was the new grille design, different from the iconic Chris Bangle designs, which sparked off chaos all over the automotive groups. Before the dust of the contravercy clears the German automakers has introduced their yet another full blown electric model after the i3, the iX. Lets see what our hosts think about the new Beemer.
Well Eric, today let us talk about that company which was popular during their initial days by producing amazing cars which were beautiful and powerful resulting in satisfaction of almost every costumer and taking a place in the dreams of common people who dream to win one. Jade the company with all that fame will be one, the one and only Bayerische Motoren Worke AG huh? Yes man you are right but this undigestable name is most popular in the abbreviation, BMW!. Yes BMW mate, worlds 7th largest automaker in 2021 by revenue, is one of the most popular automakers who popularized the German build quality and performance. Yeah and as most of the other car makers, BMW too entered the automotive manufacturing industry with the experience on making aircraft engines and their first engine is named as the BMW IIIa aircraft engine. Yeh man and they were established on 1916 and is headquartered in the Bavarian city of Munich. Yeh man and they made their debut into the domestic automotive manufacturing industry by making motorcycles right after the first world war. And their first motorcycle was named as the R32 and was produced in 1923. Man and they started the serious business of making cars after 5 years in 1928. and what gave them the confidence was the taking over of Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach motors. And well you know what the first car of BMW was a re-badge! Ohh really man?! Yes mate the first model of BMW is the rebadged Dixi which was renamed as the BMW 3/15. Now man after getting a full blown start on the market the models of the Bavarian automaker now ranges from the saloons, from one series to 8 series,sports utility vehicles from X1 to X7, the two door roadster models in the Z series, currently with one contestant the Z4. Well Jade give it a pause, because an interesting story about the Z4 is that it is co developed with Toyota, the Japanese automaker. Yes man even the new Supra MK 5 is on another way a Z4. Now the most popular part, the BMW ///M sires.
Yah man from their initials stage BMW is an active participant in the Motorsports sector.BMW has a long history in the field of Motorsports, They participates on Touring Cars Series such as DTM, WTCC, ETCC and BTCC. which are The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters that is the German Touring Car Masters, World Touring Car Championship, European Touring Car Championship, and British Touring Car Championship. Along with the ultimate game of racing, the Formula series such as F1, F2, F-E along with the local F-4 championship named the formula BMW, but they quit F1 long way back bro which is sad, and the endurance racing championships like the 24 Hrs Le Mans, Daytona, SPA and Nurburgring. Yes!, from all these racing experiences they started building the High-Performance versions of their normal road cars and they were organised under the name BMW ///M Motorsports. The ///M Lineup includes the monstrous edition of 2,3,4,5,6,8 series named the M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M8 respectively.
Now mate, the iX cannot take the extra point for the first mass produced electric car from the Bavarian automaker. Yes mate because it is the cute little i3!. And from that factor this iX is having something common with the younger sibling who turned out to see the world first. Haha! yes mate up to an extend there are some factor which makes the iX similar to the i3. But man do you know what is the ultimate party trick of iX? Well, is that the awkward looking rear end? No mate and no more predictions, cus what you are gonna do is make it worse. The for goodness sake you just say it man! Yeas this is the first ever BMW with the chameleon trick, which means that BMW has inspired it from the nature and made it look so freaking cool. Ooh man color changing car?! that is freaking amazing. Yes man according to the officials, BMW has used the digital ink or the specially prepared wrap which changes color according to the digital signals, which means you can change the color with the help of a key press.
That takes us to the first point, the exterior and design. Mate, as said earlier this is, to an extent an i3 but look here at the front, the face is more suiting to the EV man, actually I regretted initially about seeing this car because I just hate the grille, but man this looks so cool or suitable with the overall design. And man on the front end that grille, even though it is a piece of useless plastic and never play the same role in this EV, looks better with the black finished air pockets on either sides and the bottom central part. Man the headlights are sleek and blends in with the EV theme too. And Mate look closely, something you are supposed to see here is missing, can you figure it out? Yes mate the gaps, the gaps, the gaps between the hood and front grille are missing, which means that this is missing the fruit. Nope not a fruit, but a 'froot'. Yes man this thing lacks the front storage compartment or the froot or frunk or whatever. And look mate there is a small Easter egg hiding on the front end. Yes man, no more struggles to refill the windshield washer fluid, you can always refill it without any complication. Yes all you want to do is just pop open the BMW logo on the front end. But as you go up to the side profile man, there above the wheel arches the gap is present. Which is simply a design element and have nothing to do with practicality or aerodynamics. But man on the sides it is typical minimalism with structurally carved out lines and nothing much. But mate there are the shoes, just look at them. Yes, the way the wheels are designed gives some sort of space for the calipers and disks to get a peek around the outside world. Well man the calipers are given a blue color and they feel amazing and altogether complements well to the overall side profile especially with the 22 inch 1020 dual tone black and white aero alloy wheels. And Man as you watch through you can see that there is not a bit of the bloody shiny chrome on the exterior, the window panels and the bottom side plates are painted in black which is amazingly in contrast with the red color scheme.
Ugh! mate look at this rear end, this is were they broke the pot, absolutely dump man dump is not the best word but all I can say is that is the dumpiest rear end I have seen. Well Jade you don't want to be that much outrageous about the rear end, cus I feel it is fitted not amazing but nothing to complain about it. Oops man somewhere these feels like that of the X1. Well mate more accurately I can say that all they did was just take the rear end of an X1 close the air intakes and attach it to the rear end of the iX. But it was after the attachments, they realized that the rear end is a bit small to fit in and they stretched it out . But man apart from the fact that this is a bit more bulgy, this looks exactly as sophisticated as that of the X!. Yeah well apart from some more factors like the most thin LED tail lamps and black accents. Well mate look there is a small thing in the shape of a diffuser and yes this can improve the overall aerodynamics of the car. Mate there is a fact behind it too, they are compensating for the exhausts pretty well. Ooh on the mechanical side, this beemer is given overall bronze accents over the shoulder line and the ORVMs which is probably the ones we missed. Yeaap I admit that man we have missed that point.
Open the doors mate now lets see what this has packed inside it!. Woah the first and foremost thing that you notice as you gets inside is the red color spreaded all around. Well mate look the rear seats are so comfy to be in and I love the stitching and piping of the upholstery, nice patterns! Wait a second, what?!, Jade?! this is not usual, probably I am the one who sits on the rear seats and even on the co driver seats, but you?! Here?! Man!. Yeah boy this feels so cozy and comfy to be in I like it, and Eric, let me tell you something this is one of the most luxurious interiors I have seen recently. Hmm agreeable yes it is practical and comfortable. Now as we jump into the front seats you can feel the same comfortable vibe on the front seats. Yeah whole front area is feeling so calm and clean with the minimalist design. But even with the minimalist design the interior looks pretty much futuristic. And the instrumental console is having 12.3 inches and the other parts is of 14.9 inches, which means the resolution is way better quality. And the interior is finished in the Castanea suit in contrast with the Black Sapphire on the exterior. And mate the steering wheel is given a cozy wrap along with the spokes wrapped in golden-bronze and the buttons are dipped in gloss black. Yeah don't ask that question, the wheel is multi functional. Man there are golden-bronze accents on the window panels and AC vents along with the wooden trim in the central console which is packed with all kinds of multimedia and other functional controls. Well and then mate, there are small and big pockets scattered all around the interior which provides storage facility to the passengers too.
Aah now Eric, enough of all of that, on the mechanical side, this electric Bavarian is opted with the BMW iX Drive 50 M Sport engine, with two motors each one on front and one on rear pulling this massive beast. The combo of the dual synchronous motors packs the punch of about 516 HP and combined torque of 765 NM. But as individuals, the front axle has a motor that spits out a maximum power output of 268 HP and 352 NM torque and the rear axle produces 335 HP and 400 NM. And mate the powerhouse for all these monstrous power is from a 111.5 KwH battery, which has almost 105.2 of usable power. Mate, with a 11KW three phase charger, it takes much lesser time to charge too. Jade, this massive body is balanced by a double wishbone front axle air springs, and multi link rear axle airs spring suspensions. Yeh well planned and well executed. And mate to make things more interesting this iX is having a claimed range of almost 630 KM of range but as official reports suggests this thing has an achieved range of 461 KMs.
So mate, coming to the verdict, I really think this is a nice car from the Bavarian automaker, especially the new design really suits the EV platform too. But Eric what I think is the greatest drawback is that the money, in euros, it costs almost 146,185 quids, taking back many of the costumers, but this can be the best choice for the tech freaks and future seekers. Yes mate it for them, BMW had added the party tricks like that of the color changing and many more. I think this is the best fantasy car for those guys with a warehouse full of money, a comfortable car without compromising a bit in the performance figures. Which is something BMW always offer you.
