GMA, when expanded saying Gordon Murray Automotive, the name may be a little unfamiliar to you because it is something new to the market. For those who are new to the name GMA, Gordon Murray Automotive is a British million dollar super-car maker. The company was formed under the leadership of Gordon Murray, the South African Born English designer who is famous for his masterpiece work done for another British automaker, McLaren. Yes he was initially the employee for McLaren and out there he designed one of his and McLaren's masterpiece, the McLaren F1. After a long period of work under McLaren Gordon parted ways with them and started his own design consultancy which later became an established automotive manufacturing company. Two years back they introduced their first million dollar super-car, the GMA T50. And now they just broke the cover of another million dollar kid, the sibling of T50, the GMA T33. Here are our hosts having a little chit chat about the New born baby from GMA.
Jade, heard the news? what news mate? I got a tonne of news with me, which news are you talking about ? The new million dollar car from Gordon Murray Automotive! Ooh you mean the GMA T33. Yes man the younger sibling of GMA's ultimate super-car, the T50. Yeah man the T50 is already a hit. Yes bro such a lovely car it is. The car with central driving position and the one which is considered as the logical successor of McLaren F1. Ohh yeah, F1 itself is such a masterpiece artwork, so the logical successor will also be good then. Yes man the T50 was pretty rebellious when launched because it destroyed all the conventions , but with some fresh air to breath it still looked elegant and performed well. Yes I remember the time they exhibited it on the Good-wood festival of speed and had a flying lap around the circuit. Man the design of that super-car was nothing but minimal and plane still not even a single bit which seems not in the perfect place to be. Man it weighed like a paper, the weight of the car was 980 kilos or so and with the Crosworth Tuned V12 packing the punch of about 650 horses this car was absolutely flying out there and I felt really cool to sit in the centre and push the car to the limit and hold it on. Yes man I get what you are talking about, the F1 car feel, and that is absolutely what Gordon promised when they teased this thing for the first time . So the big brother T50 being their lets shift gears and head on to the new born kid, the younger sibling, the T33.
Eric, as what Gordon said, the T33 is the more mild, practical and accountable super-car which can be your daily. Its got a bit more weight, more torque and bit less power. The car got lengthier but with the same width too. Some of the main differences which Gordon told and clearly spoken out are, this is a bit more conventional kind of car apart from the rebellious T50. Yes mate it is focusing more on luxury comfort and reliability. But the fact is that after all these deductions this car is still worth about 1.4 million quid. Yes still the million dollar kid. Gordon says that No part of the T33 exists without a use. Yes and he had made it clear with the design too. Yes man it is simple minimal and more conventional, but still have the GMA signature. Yes man and it is really a big task to hold these things together nicely executed. Yes man the front end consist of nothing but plane design, but there are bits of clever engineering from Gordon. Yes man the two veins on either sides of the headlamps. Yes, they are cleverly placed there to protect the headlamps on the pendulum test. Yeah some clever engineering. Yes man and if you look there is nothing other than those couple of lines, no cuts no creases and nothing. Completely plane bro but that plane design have its own beauty and signature. Yes it is pretty future proof design, no conventional super-car things at all. On the side profile too there is nothing big to say about. Yeah the only thing on the side profile is the bulgy wave from front wheel arch to the tail end, which in Gordon's words called a tumble-home, and here the tumble-home is wider which clearly affects the space in the cockpit and it makes the car more sporty, apart from that there is only one thing to be highlighted and that is the shoes this kid is having. Yes man it is the only other thing that I find conventional in this thing, 19 inches on the front and 20 on the rear, something that is followed by conventional super-car designers. Yes mate and we cannot blame Gordon for that, as it is useful for the clever use of aerodynamics. And the alloy design is so sick and the calipers are hiding behind the five twin spoke alloys and they are too given contrasting color. On the rear end there are diffuesers, which are cleverly designed and hence ensuring more down force and smooth aero along with creating some super-car ground effects and the dual exhaust pipes really complement to the overall appearance of the rear end.
Yeah boy, speaking about aero, this thing is having the ultimate use of aerodynamics. The massive front air dam, the air curtains on the hood, no basically the froot, yes man because it is a mid engined car. And the air vents at the tail shows the effective use of aerodynamics. Jade, did you notice the roof scoop of the car? Yes mate it is a regular roof scoop which is placed their either for style or for better aerodynamics. No bro don't you remember I told you earlier that there is no parts in this car without a purpose, and man look this scoop is not a part of the body structure of the car, it is directly connected with the engine and it is feeding air directly to the V12. Wow man that is clever and amazing work done to it. And that is not the end man it also helps to reduce the gap between the scoop and roof hence the car can be more aerodynamic.
This car is having a chassis made of aluminum and carbon fibre and as a result this cars is only weighing about 1.1 tonnes.Well that is a bit more than 980 kilos of the T50. Yes talking some numbers, this British super-car is powered by the same Crosworth tuned V12 from big brother T50. But this is a bit detuned . Technically it is re-tuned man, and this is completely re-tuned the valve timing along with new induction, exhaust systems and new engine mounting system. Yet this 3.9L V12 packs the punch of 607 Hp and 451 NM torque along with a power to weight of 556 HP per tonne and rev limiter running all the way up to 11,100 RPM a 1000 less than T50. The ridiculous fact about the T33 is that it can give up to 75% maximum torque at lower RPMs and 90% maximum torque at higher RPMs. Which means this thing is still capable of pumping adrenaline to the nerves, not a bit less excitement! Man this can be a classic collectors item, because as per Gordon's words there will be three variants and a total of 300 cars produced which when divided gives 100 cars per variant. This time Gordon is planning to give the 6 speed manual H pattern transmission accompanied by another 6 speed automatic paddle shift gearbox.
Opening the doors, the exterior of the car is pretty surprising because you will not find a loads of screens on the dashboard and technically anywhere inside. Interior is arranged in the typical classic manner with a lot of round gauges with analogue consoles, all placed around the steering wheel in a driver-centric manner, something that reminds you of the German automakers. The steering wheel too looks so classy with the round shape, flat bottom and four spokes. Mate the steering wheel is something we have seen in the T50 and the way this looks is just amazing, more lighter gradient color and more classic finish. The seats are finished in the GMA style, with the driver seat given a yellow finish and the door panels are too given lime yellow finish. Meanwhile the passengers are given a black finish and the door panel are too given back finish. Other portions including the dashboard and other sides are wrapped in alcantara. Look mate I like the way the gear shifter and the central console is placed together with the gear given a ball head and the stick with a lime yellow finish, the gear column have a special ornament, the signature of Gordon Murray. Wow that is a cool thing to be.
So Let us wind up today's chat with a little comparison between the brothers. The T33 has more weight, torque length and they stand neck to neck in case of weight and width. T50 scores in case of power, fuel tank capacity and down-force. So On that bombshell lets wind up today's talk. I think man this is gonna rock the show.
