New Safari; Worthy of the Name??

New Safari;

Is it worthy of the Name??

In the world auto mobiles there are may type of vehicles or many vehicle segments. Like Hatchbacks cross overs muscles sedans limousines and SUV s off-roaders and many more. But one of the most prominent section among them is the SUV s. They are so because of the luxury and comfort given to the costumer and the confidence to be a go anywhere vehicle. There is a legend in the world of SUV s who is an Indian, yeah you said it right the extinct SAFARI. The car which made off-roading and SUV market popular in India is the safari manufactured by the Tata motor corporation safari was so popular in the old days that it played so many roles in many cinemas as the companion of the heroes and villains. Lets check upon the history of the legendary safari. The first generation safari was presented in India in the year 1998 and was out for sale in the global market in the year 1999 when the first imported safari rolled out in UK. Safari created history with so many jaw dropping changes during that time which where for the first time in the history of the Indian auto-mobile industry. The First edition safari was comfortable and luxurious and powered with a 2 Liter turbo diesel engine which gave a power output of 87 ps that is 92 BHP which was a wow factor during that period. The engine was earlier used in the Tata Telcoline,
The engine is the Peugeot XXD Turbo Diesel. The enormous power was injected to the four wheel equally, with a FWD that is the car was ready to go anywhere. The drive-train was joined by a 5 speed manual gearbox. The Tata Safari was made popular by the advertisement given by the company. At that period these types of advertisement influenced and amazed a lot of people to buy Safari. Seeing these types of advertisement people began to picturise Safari as a go anywhere vehicle. The safari made that name literally possible by gaining more popularity and and selling more in number.
Then the evolution happened the safari was given a face lift the Safari Di-core which was more elegant and the new update gave the safari more road presence and was literally a head turner during that period. The popularity of safari began to decrease by the introduction of another Indian rival the Mahindra Scorpio which was literally the rival of safari. But even with that launch the popularity of safari and the driving pleasure given by the safari was enough to bring it back to the industry. Then Tata decided to refresh safari with a new look and the ultimate factor the Tata want to bring back was the popularity, so the gave the safari a huge update and launched the Safari strome which was literally a boom. And Safari was common on the roads until they stopped the production in the year 2019 they closed down the production due to the emission norm compliance and many more technical issues. And here we are going to take a look at how the new gen boy is the New SAFARI, is it really worthy of the name??? lets check it out.......

Exterior

As usual lets start from the exterior of the new safari. From the first look it is pretty much similar to the elder brother the Tata Harrier. Apart from the chrome inserts on the front grille and the design change of the air dam you can hardly spot other differences. With the same multi functional DRL and the same headlamp that is the xenon HD Projector head lamps. With the usual LED Coming down we can see a huge air dam with some new design elements on the grille in the bottom end we can see a black cladding and a silver skid plate. And coming to the hood there is a bulged hood
with a v shaped character sketching which makes the front end more muscular along with a premium feel. Now coming to the both sides we can see the muscular wheel arches with bold character lines bulging out. Along with That we can see a black cladding on both the wheel arches which is wicked cool and plays an important role in
increasing the bold character of the car this cladding is surrounded all around the car the wheels are bigger than that of the Harrier, here we have 16 inch wheels. There are
some sharp body lines in the shoulder portion and the green house is designed in a pretty muscular and elegant manner. There is a chrome strip on the two window lines which altogether gives both premium feel and muscularity this chromism has also been spread to the door handles. Then we can see the wing mirrors which are totally blacked out to give the premium feel. Now lets check out the roof line. The only portion where the new safari is unique in its own way is the rear portion and the roof portion, the roof line is not straight and if we examine the rear potion and the roof line closely we can see an old safari touch, which is the only thing which I could relate the new and old safaris. The roof line is a bit bulged upward and in the roof line you can see a writing safari in chrome which again gives it a premium feel. The quarter glass is much bigger due to the roof design and that is good for getting much more view from inside. The roof design is also extended to the quarter panel. The sharp shoulder line is continued to the rear end the rear lamp design is connected by the shoulder line filled with sharp lines the tail lamp design is pretty elegant. The shoulder line when coming to the tail end splits out as a part of the rear lamp design. The tail lamp design is pretty elegant and the black inserts on the rear lamps increases the
sportiness of the car. The two rear lamps are connected by a black bar in which Tata logo is placed and we can see a rear camera on the bar and on the bottom end we can see the Safari writing in chrome which is the same as we had seen on the Harrier. Coming even more down we can see a black pseudo diffuser and a silver insert covering both the exhaust pipes. But wait both the exhaust pipes are dummy oh I mean they are elements of design but pretty elegant and gives a classy and sporty feel. Overall the exterior of the new safari is pretty much like the harrier but is unique on its own way. The reason why it is pretty similar to Harrier is that both are designed in TATA's Omega arc platform which is derived from the JLR’s D8 philosophy and hence both Harrier and safari are almost similar to the Land Rover vehicles.

Interior

Now Lets hop into the interior of the new Safari. Opening the door will make you feel amazed, that is the interior quality of Tata. The dual tone interior is given a black and
beige finish its really giving a premium finish and a classy interior. The door pads are just like that of the harrier but a little bit difference there is no wooden finishes in the place of the wooden finishes they have given black finishes and as same as harrier we are given a bottle holder in the door panel and we have the power window control switches. Here we also have the mirror control switches. Now getting into the new safari’s driving seat we can see the steering column which is pretty similar to that of the Harrier, with every features and multimedia controls and the meter console is digital-analogue combined.
The only difference from that of harrier is that in safari Tata has integrated the tyre pressure monitoring system in the digital display. All other features are as same as the harrier like the live mileage and trip meter and many more. Now coming to the centre console we can see the 8.8 inch infotainment system. Tata calls this system as the Floating Island Infotainment System The Advanced 22.35 cm High-resolution,Touchscreen Infotainment with Android Auto & Apple Car Play. The graphical quality of the touch screen has been improved but they could have given a bigger screen for this price this one is the copy paste of the Harrier. Coming down the centre console we have the AC vents and climate control system. The dashboard of the car is made with Signature Ash-wood that is Enhanced with a blend of ash wood shades, the Soft touch dashboard with anti- reflective ‘Nappa’ grain top layer, ensures the calming effect you seek in cabin which is really an element of comfort and luxury. We can see the black finish and the aluminium finish which really projects out and enriches the interior with a premium feel. The glove box is pretty big and that is a storage space not to mention you know. Now coming to the centre console we can see
the gear liver with a 6 speed AMT transmission. And the new plus point is that the parking break liver which seemed to be a little awkward have been replaced by an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold system. The EPB has saved more space and has converted the saved space into a storage space. The negative point is that even though the space is saved, for me there is a feel of something which is important is missing. The seats are really plushy and comfortable sitting position with lavish knee, head rooms and thigh support. The seats are made with Benecke Kaliko Signature Oyster White leather Upholstery which is really classy way and the Tata is caring for the driver with a 6 way Powered Driver Seat with adjustable lumbar support. And we have a panoramic sunroof An exclusive glass-dome ceiling offering visuals others would envy. The Panoramic Sunroof adapts to provide you a surreal experience in different weather conditions- be it rain or sunshine. But the negative point is that it is taking soo much time and is a bit noisy too. Hopping back to
the second row is as comfortable as the first row with two captain seats in the six seater variant both seats are really comfortable and windows are really large that there is nice visibility to outside in the seven seater variant we have a bench seat with a middle armrest and two cup holders integrated to it we can fold the armrest in case of three passengers in the second row. The third row is a bit comfy than that of any other MPV s. The six seater variant is a bit better for the third row. The quarter glass is not so big as it looks from outside so there is a bit of claustrophobic feel. But the roof design has increased the head room in the third row. In the left side of the third row we have a 12 volt charging socket with a mobile holder and in the right side we have the rear AC vent controls. The boot space is too low and if there is no too much people we have to fold the third row for more boot space.
